Comparing Panasonic cordless telephones is a major piece of work, because they are available in a staggering number of models (and model variations). The range seems endless and there is a multitude of features on offer. For this reason, I've put together this article to provide a little structure and background information which I hope will be useful for anyone trying to decide what the best Panasonic cordless phone is for their specific needs. While it would be impossible to cover the whole range in one article, I'll try to cover the basics.
DECT 6.0 Panasonic cordless phones offer the latest technology. DECT stands for Digital Enhanced Cordless Communications and despite the 6.0 in the name, it actually transmits at 1.9 Ghz (I think the 6.0 was just a marketing exercise to make it sound more modern than the 5.8 Ghz models). DECT 6 is said to be more secure, have greater range and longer battery life due to the lower transmission frequency.
Panasonic offer a number of models which use DECT 6.0 technology. The KX-TG9000, KX-TG6000 and KX-TG1000 cordless phone range's are all expandable with extra handsets available and some models offer features like digital answering machine and speakerphone among other things. At the more expensive end of the spectrum is the KX-TG9390 series which has 2 lines in addition to the features already mentioned.
Next are the Panasonic 5.8 GHz cordless phones. While there aren't as many models available in this range as there is in the DECT 6.0 range, there is still a reasonable number of features on offer. The KX-TG4320 series is expandable and has a built-in answering machine in the base unit. And the KX-TG6700 series offers 2-line functionality and is expandable up to 8 handsets.
If you're looking for something different, the KX-TH1212 is a bluetooth enabled cordless phone. With the KX-TH1212, you just link the base unit to your bluetooth enabled cell phone, then you can make and receive cell phone calls at home without draining the battery of your cell phone.
Last but not least is the KX-WP1050 cordless phone for Skype (the VOIP communications service). With the KX-WP1050 you can enjoy the convenience of a cordless home phone combined with the cost savings available through the use of Skype.
